Hiking Wildwood Canyon

I spent a recent weekend morning hiking Wildwood Canyon in Burbank with my college buddy Mike.

We park at Stough Nature Center and take the “easy” path up the mountain. I left my DSLR at home in favor of my favorite hiking accessory: an iPhone.

It was so clear at the top that we could see pretty far out over the ocean — Palos Verdes, Catalina, Malibu. I’ve hiked this trail maybe 15 times and this is the clearest it’s been.

We stop at Porto’s Bakery & Cafe for a post-hike meal. I don’t eat here often but their Dulce de Leche lattes always hit the spot. And in lieu of a sandwich, I spontaneously order a bunch of smaller items at the counter. I try rellenitos for the first time — a sweet plantain filled with black beans. THEY ARE SO GOOD and now I want all the rellenitos. I also enjoy two potato balls and a tuna puff. I love Porto’s!*

*This post is not sponsored by Porto’s, although if they paid me in rellenitos I’d write about them daily.
