RECAP: Havasu

If you missed a post about Havasu Falls or want to plan your own trip here, I’ve linked to all my Havasu posts below. Click away to read more about any of the specifics — where to stay the night before your journey, what the 10 mile trek is like, info on permits and camping, and of course stellar views of the waterfalls.

Havasu 1: Laughlin and Cruising Route 66

It’s the first leg of our journey to Havasu Falls — we pass through the desert casino city of Laughlin, then drive a scenic stretch of Route 66 and stop at a kitschy gas station.

Havasu 4: Supai Village

We pass through the Supai tribal village and get a fascinating glimpse into local life while passing through the cafe, grocery store, church, and elementary school. But the most revealing spot is the town bulletin board.

Havasu 5: Camping at Havasu Falls

Our campsite at Havasu Falls is outrageously stunning — we set up our tents along a babbling turquoise stream in the shadow of a giant red rock wall. This is one of the prettiest places I’ve ever been.

Havasu 7: Havasu Falls, At Last

Just when you think the views can’t get any prettier, check out these outrageously stunning photos of Havasu Falls. There’s a reason this waterfall bears the tribal name — it’s beauty is unreal.

Havasu 8: Return to Civilization

Details of our final night at camp and 10 mile return trek to the car… we may or may not have tracked down some mules to carry our heavy backpacks. Then we wolf down a hearty meal and sneak showers at a campground. Fun times!
