This post rounds out my 5-day stretch in Lake Wanaka and Queenstown with some miscellaneous photos of food, scenery, and more food.

I snap the photo below while editing photos on a rainy day in Lake Wanaka. But with a view of fall foliage and the water, how can I complain?

This is pizza from Fat Badger’s restaurant in Queenstown. It is SO GOOD.

And here’s my breakfast from Joe’s Garage in Queenstown:

And a morning chai latte from Patagonia Chocolates on the left below and a chicken salad lunch during a day of fireside video editing in Queenstown on the right.

Here are a handful of photos I shared on Instagram (username = AsHerWorldTurns) to document my meals. I used the apps InstaFood and InstaPlace to edit the following photos. Some are identical to the images above (like the pizza and breakfast) but with fun text added. These apps can enhance your Instagram photos if you have free time and cell phone battery to waste!

I snap this next shot on a quick break near Lake Wanaka. Our Stray bus driver Spoon pulls over for a few minutes and the scenery is breathtaking.

The next set of photos is from the drive between Lake Wanaka and Queenstown. While it’s always a challenge to take photos out of a moving vehicle, sometimes the scenery is so pretty that I have to try. Occasionally they come out alright.

We pull over at a farmer’s market across from this row of yellow trees. The intense color is captivating.

The ride into Queenstown is equally glorious, but as the road winds around the river most of my images are blurry.

We pass by the turnoff for historic Arrowtown below. Those auburn trees are calling my name!

My first glimpse of Queenstown from our bus window:

I stumble upon this gift shop in Queenstown. I think whoever named it suffers from low self esteem. They could have called it the “pretty good gift shop.”

Emerson beer makes another appearance! And below on the right you’ll see two scoops of the award-winning banana split gelato from Patagonia Chocolates. Even though it’s quite cold outside, my friend Michelle and I can’t resist trying some.

The following night I show up to an event called “Broadway Comes to Queenstown,” a night of singing at a French restaurant featuring Kiwi singer Kyle Chuen. While I’m hardly Twitter-savvy, I attempt to live tweet moments throughout the evening. Kyle is joined by other cast members from a local production of Chicago and for the most part everyone sings well-established show tunes. My favorite song of the night is the lesser-known “Run Away With Me” by the songwriting team Kerrigan-Lowdermilk; I saw them do a concert in LA earlier this year. Kyle introduces the number by describing it as “little known” but of course I recognize the opening chords. I approach Kyle afterwards to thank him for singing that song, and he comments, “Of course an American would know it!” I think he means we appreciate musical theater more than the Kiwis. Fair enough, although he’s speaking to one of the few Americans traveling abroad who would recognize that song! Kait and Brian (the first names of the Kerrigan-Lowdermilk songwriting duo) retweeted my tweet below. Three cheers for social media and Broadway!

Also, I met up with a friend-of-a-friend who also happened to be in Queenstown that night. It was helpful to compare notes about past and future travel destinations. I was grateful this new friend didn’t mind listening to show tunes!

And can you believe I’ve been traveling for just over three months now? Tomorrow I’ll reflect on 12 weeks on the road.
