A Heart Full of Love

(I am all about show tune lyrics in blog post titles lately. Any guesses? It’s an easy one.)

Another month has drawn to a close and, again, I am overwhelmed by how much I have to be grateful for. These recap posts are a great exercise in gratitude.

I flew back east on May 1st. The next evening, I strolled around the Yale campus before meeting my uncle for dinner. What an impressive quad — these students are lucky.

My uncle and I dined at Heirloom restaurant in The Study hotel — cute name for an upscale accommodation at an Ivy League campus, right? The food was outstanding.

The next day we traveled up to Massachusetts for my cousin’s farm chic wedding. So much love!

And just yesterday I returned to Massachusetts to snap family photos for my cousin Liz. I have yet to edit them, but I grabbed one to show off here… aren’t they a beautiful family?!

And speaking of beautiful families, last week I got to hang out with my cousin Elena, her husband Pete, and their adorable son. It’s been such a treat to have this time on the east coast to catch up with family. I love these people so much.

It doesn’t hurt that the weather has significantly improved since my last visit to Connecticut.

Compare that to what our backyard looked like in February. I prefer the greenery!

Here’s a few sweet moments with my parents’ adorable pup Bijou:

We celebrated Mother’s Day a little early with my grandma over a fancy lunch.

We Skyped with my aunt and uncle as Grandma opened her gifts — sparkly new jewelry, right up her alley.

Most of our weekends were spent on Cape Cod, which is in full bloom this time of year. Check out those bold tulips below, spotted during a stroll in Sandwich, MA, near the Daniel Webster Inn.

A few other snapshots from Sandwich… that building in the lower-right corner used to be a church but now it’s a private residence. I’m dying to peak inside.

Here’s my parents with Uncle Doug & Aunt Chris. They just retired to the Cape so now we get to see them more often!

On Mother’s Day we gathered for the afternoon — my dad and uncle grilled dinner as my mom and aunt cooked side dishes. I got to chat with my cousin Dave and his wife Julie, who are two of my favorite people.

A few other moments from the Cape this month — a quick visit to Parnassus Book Service. I’m smitten with any outdoor bookseller.

And some flower shots, interior and exterior:

No trip to the Cape would be complete without stopping at the beach. We try to get here daily, if only for a walk in the parking lot to admire the view and breathe in salty air while getting exercise.

We met up with longtime family friends Clay & Diane for dinner one night. Their dog, Meadow, is the sweetest Golden Retriever.

And we took the kayaks out for a spin last weekend at Sheep’s Pond in Brewster.

We wrapped up Memorial Day weekend with a stop at Original Seafood in Dennisport.

How could I NOT get a lobster roll? It was delicious, but so were the other meals my mom made this month, especially this cedar plank grilled salmon (with help from dad) and a fruit trifle.

It’s been such a treat to spend time with family and visit Cape Cod these past few weeks. My heart is brimming with gratitude as I scroll through these photos.

And I went on a few more adventures this month, including a daylong trip to Central Massachusetts and some theater in New York City — more on those experiences soon. Have a great weekend!
